Why I Teach Hebrew
From Tel Aviv to Zurich โ the story behind my teaching
I grew up in Tel Aviv and studied Education and Jewish Studies. That's where my love for Hebrew deepened โ a language that carries thousands of years of history and culture.
When I moved to Zurich, I discovered something moving: here, far from Israel, people were searching for exactly what I had always taken for granted โ the connection to the language, the culture, the tradition.
That's how teaching Hebrew became my passion.
Who learns Hebrew with me
Every student comes with a different background, but they all share the desire for connection.
There's the business professional who wants to learn Hebrew for work and discovers it goes far beyond meetings โ it's about understanding colleagues, their humour, the way Israelis think.
There's the person looking for roots and connection โ a Jewish grandmother, perhaps family in Israel, or a bond that was lost over time.
And there's the culture enthusiast โ someone who fell in love with Israel and wants to read newspapers, understand songs, truly experience it.
Why I do this
There's a magical moment in teaching โ when the eyes light up and the student says: "Now I get it!"
They read a sentence on their own and understand it. They start to speak โ with mistakes, yes, and words still missing โ but they speak.
That's the moment they feel: all the effort, the time invested โ it was worth it. Hebrew feels less foreign. They're communicating. It actually works.
And those moments, when I see their joy โ it's like a gardener looking at the garden they planted and nurtured. That's when I know: a new door has opened for them.
